Rodeo King Teaches Smiley How To Ride Horses
OUTSIDE AT THE RANCH HOUSE IN THE DAYTIME:
Two years later:
SMILEY
- get outta the kitchen!
A different horse sprints forward, carrying the laughing, happy adorable FIVE year-old Smiley who sits in front of his (now rougher, scarred 19 year-old) Dad, Rodeo King.
Rounding the horse-training ring, Smiley cuts... turns the horse like a pro ... scatters the chickens { BAWK BAWK BAWK! }.
Violet, angry, glares from the fence toward Smiley and Rodeo King:
VIOLET
Time for studies!
SMILEY
Wheeee!
RODEO KING
Ride 'im, Smiley!
Smiley smiles... races the horse toward BOINKO, a big, powerful stud donkey with eye-catching markings.
Boinko stands like a boulder in Smiley's path.
Boinko spins around, back-kicks at Smiley's horse!
Boinko's hoof knocks into Smiley's calf-muscle.
Smiley's horse jumps sideways... scrambles.
Its hooves slide, scratching gravel.
The horse's eyes widen in fear:
Smiley sees a barrel roll toward the horse.
Violet gasps.
Smiley and Rodeo King leap the horse over the rolling barrel.
The horse stumbles.
Rodeo King and Smiley careen off the horse.
They roll on the ground.
They smack their heads against the stable doors.
Boinko cracks a 'donkey-smile':
BOINKO
(brays)
Ee-oh, Ee--oh!
Boinko lifts his upper lip. { SNUFFF! } He sniffs the wind (scouting for horse hormones).
(Sounds and Smiley's wide-eyes signify that) Boinko's dong EXPANDS.
VIOLET
(furious)
Enough, King! Smiley's just a boy!
Rodeo King runs his hand over Smiley's bruise.
Smiley looks shocked at the bruise's huge blackness.
Rodeo King, smiles, punches the bruise.
Smiley yells.
RODEO KING
(Yells)
What don't kill ya' makes ya' meaner!
VIOLET
(yells)
King!
Smiley limps... runs to Boinko the donkey.
Smiley jumps on Boinko's back.
Boinko bucks.
SMILEY
(bucking, fist to Violet)
WHEE! I'm mean!
RODEO KING
(terrified, w/ Violet)
Smiley, no! Boinko'll kill you!
Boinko tears off bucking Smiley like crazy. He jumps over the ranch's fence... Smiley goes flying!
